What does a new boiler cost?
Checkatrade's cost guide (price tables last updated March 2026, read on 30 September 2026) says a like-for-like combi replacement in the same place usually costs £2,500 to £4,000, supply and install [S1]. Its average UK total for a gas combi is about £3,000 [S1]. Some of its other figures [S1]:

Who can fit a gas boiler?
The HSE says anyone paid to work on gas appliances in a home must be Gas Safe registered [S2]. Registered engineers carry a Gas Safe Register ID card, and the back of the card lists the work they are qualified to do [S2]. You can check a licence number on the register's "Check an Engineer" service [S3]. Please check whoever quotes you, including the installer we pass your enquiry to.
Building regulations and planning
gov.uk lists installing or replacing a heating system as work that may need building regulations approval [S4]. You do not need to get approval yourself if you use an installer registered with a competent person scheme [S5]. gov.uk says the installer then gives you a certificate within 8 weeks of the work being finished [S5].
